Alkaloid of Rhynchostylis retusa as Green Inhibitor for Mild Steel Corrosion in 1 M H2SO4 Solution

Alkaloids are aromatic hydrocarbons with nitrogen as heteroelements in the ring structure that responsible for bonding metal surface and help to reduce corrosion of metals such mild steel (MS) an acidic medium. In this study, alkaloid Rhynchostylis retusa (RR) was extracted by solvent extraction method confirmed chemical test well FTIR spectroscopic test. Extracted alkaloids were tested green inhibitors MS a 1.0 M H2SO4 solution. The inhibition efficiency (IE) extracts RR studied weight loss measurement electrochemical polarization method. Results showed maximum IE gravimetric 87.51% 1000 ppm solution at 6 h immersion time. Open circuit potential (OCP) potentiodynamic results indicated acted mixed type inhibitor. found be 93.24% sample immersed h. temperature effect study reveals can work only below 35 °C. successfully used medium
